Dissociative disorders (DD) are conditions that involve disruptions or breakdowns of memory, awareness, identity, or perception.

People with 
dissociative disorders usedissociation, a defense mechanism, pathologically and involuntarily.

Dissociative disorders are thought to primarily be caused by psychological trauma.
