POST DRILL VIDEO:  SHERIFF IVY

Picture

HOMEROOM:  AUGUST 16TH

INTENT.  Today our HOMEROOM is to look at the WESTSHORE NEWS, followed by a discussion on "Bullying," and because of this week's DRILL, we are required to watch Brevard County Sheriff & BPS VIDEO on safety & security in the schools.  These will certainly fill in the 30 minutes for HOMEROOM.

REALITY:  We started on time, introduced our two new students from Edgewood, then watched WS News [5:33].  We went immediately into Wayne Ivy's security video [8:33] because of our two drills this week.  We began the discussion on "bullying," but got through just a bit before the bell.

CELEBRITIES AGAINST BULLYING

HOMEROOM:  AUGUST 23rd

INTENT.  Today our (1) HOMEROOM is to look at the WESTSHORE NEWS, followed by (2) inform our homeroom that next homeroom we will vote on our selection of ambassador and co-ambassador; also, (3) a discussion on "Bullying" again, paying particular attention which SRO Butler asked us to cover which involves some groups of 8th graders potentially bullying 7th graders in the cafeteria and outside area.  In addition, we will (4) begin working on our flag and slogans, class saying, symbols etc [note our 7th grade efforts above].

REALITY:  We started off with some chaos, and asking students to put away their cell phones and listen up.  With that said, our homeroom watched the WCTZ News show for today which was short in nature and time.   I went ahead and relayed Officer Butler's concern about 8th graders and 7th graders in regards to "bullying."   With time remaining, Anjani facilitated our efforts in the flag, symbols, motto, etc.  We will review them carefully next Friday.  In addition, next week we mentioned that if anyone is interested in running for 8th grade ambassador, they are to give a 2-3 minute speech as to why.  And, that was just about it for today.

HOMEROOM - SEPTEMBER 6th

I was absent to a medical procedure.  Our main goal was to allow speeches for those wanting to be this year's AMBASSADOR and CO-AMBASSADOR.  Our SUBSTITUTE, Ms. B allowed students to give speeches [no more than 1-minute] and passed out ballots for a secret casting.  I will tally the votes on SEPTEMBER 9th.

NO WEST SHORE NEWS AVAILABLE TODAY

HOMEROOM - SEPTEMBER 13TH

INTENT:  We were to VIEW WCTZ News, vote on Middle School officers and READ an ARTICLE "LUCKY TO BE ALIVE."

REALITY:  Bonnie was able to get the vote out, and to read the article.  It was a good day with some time to spare!

HOMEROOM - SEPTEMBER 27TH

INTENT:  Today, we want to VIEW WCTZ NEWS and revote on the MS Government officers.  In addition, we want to discuss voting on the flags coming  up in October.

REALITY:  We viewed WCTZ NEWS and voted agained for MS SGA officers.

HOMEROOM - OCTOBER 11TH

INTENT:  Today, we want to VIEW WCTZ NEWS and let the HOMEROOM know we won the 8th grade FLAG COMPETITION.  In addition, we began working on the 8TH GRADE HOMEROOM CREST.

REALITY:  We viewed WCTZ NEWS, took our flag down to MRS. FELDBUSH for entire school flag competition, and figured out an ICE CREAM PARTY for winning the flag.  We also began discussing the CREST.  In addition, we had an earlier EVACUATION DRILL and ran the video during class time.
